MotoGP. Free 1: Quartararo and Zarco provisionally classified, at Le Mans

Free practice 1 of the French Grand Prix 2022 has just ended and our tricolors have been placed in the top ten, both. However, the best time was for Pol Espargaro, who beat A Rins and Pecco Bagnaia, at Le Mans.

MotoGP: Le Mans, the 1st free

It is, for the moment, under the sun that begins the MotoGP weekend at the Le Mans circuit, on the occasion of the French Grand Prix. And in the paddock and in the stands, it’s effervescence, with every appearance of Fabio Quartararo and Johann Zarco. Two riders who will be specially followed, again this year. In addition, for the first time in history, in the queen category, a tricolor world champion will take the start of a French Grand Prix. And here we are with a 45 minute session!

Alex Rins, looking for a handlebar with Suzuki’s announced retirement, is the first to set a significant time. And already a fall at the beginning of the EL1, that of Bastianini. Ten minutes later, Jorge Martín joined, in second place, before being defeated by Marc Márquez. Then, Maverick Vinalès evicts the leader by taking his Aprilia to the controls. The hero of the audience, Fabio Quartararo, in turn cuts the line to mark the fourth best time. While Johann Zarco starts more fluently, with twelfth place. Improvement of Pol Espargaro, now second, while Brad Binder is wrong on lap 3. JZ5 P9! Stay half an hour.

Rain … it’s raining, for KTM!

In Espargaro it illuminates all the sectors in red and in the line, the Spaniard returns to the fourth position. Fabio P2. But Jack Miller sets the record and evicts the leader! Pol improves a few minutes later, and passes to Fabio, to get second place. For his part, Johann is now P12. Another KTM fell 17 minutes from the end, that of Miguel Oliveira. Rins advances and returns to second place. Another driver should improve soon, Marc Márquez. But a mistake deprives him of the good times announced. Fall of Fernandez. The KTMs got off to a bad start this session.

Like Zarco, Bagnaia is slow to find performance. He is 15th, behind the Pramac rider. Alex Rins improved, second. But Miller’s time holds up, ten minutes from the checkered flag. And Johann Zarco has also returned to the match, occupying the 7th position provisionally. Like Pecco, 8th right now. The two men never leave! While he was the fastest in the first two sectors, Johann fails at S3. But there is still time to improve. Another fall for Oliveira! He gets up. Miller improves and drives the point home! But Quartararo could do much better, if the S4 is not lost. And this is the case, Yamaha leads the 1 free of the French MotoGP GP!

But the Ducati could retaliate. Bagnaia finished seventh, ahead of Zarco. Jack did not progress in the end, finishing second three minutes from the end of the session. Marini P4, Vinales P5. Johann cuts the line again but the Frenchman does not improve. M Márquez enters the top ten. Times are going crazy, Rins climbs to the head, immediately defeated by Pol. A few more seconds and JZ5 is tenth, so in danger. Mir 5th. It’s over at Le Mans. Johann Zarco will be knocked out … but no, he marks the 8th best time at the last minute! The two Frenchmen are in the top ten. Pecco Bagnaia also returns to the match, finishing third. Place in the complete classification.
