Federal 3. 200 teams, group composition, format: everything you need to know about the 2022-2023 season

200 teams, 20 groups, 2 first placed directly, play-off, last 2 relegated … FFR has presented, this Thursday, June 30, 2022, everything you need to know about the French championship of Federal 3 to the season 2022-2023. All this was validated during the Steering Committee of the French Rugby Federation held at the Hotel de Région de Marseille.

200 teams, 20 groups of 10

200 teams are committed to Federal 3 for the 2022-2023 season. They are divided into 20 hens out of 10with a qualifying phase in round trip format, included 18 daysfollowed by a final phase that will start with the playoffs and then 32they are of end.

The calendar

The first day of the championship will take place on the weekend of September 17 and 18, 2022. The return phase will begin on December 10 and 11, 2022, before a weekend of retreat and then a truce of 3 weeks until January 14 and 15. 2023.

The last day of the regular phase will be held on the weekend of April 1 and 2, 2023, and the final phase will begin with the play-offs on the weekend of April 15 to 16, 2023, before April 32.they are round trip format (April 22-23 and 29-30), then the round trip of 16 (May 13-14 and 20-21) and the 8th.they are finals in dry matches and on neutral ground (May 27-28), quarterfinals (June 10-11), semifinals (June 17-18). Finally, the final of the French Federal Championship 3 is scheduled for the weekend of June 24 and 25, 2023.

The format of the season

In Federal 1, the top 2 in each group, ie 40 teams, will be directly classified for the main round of the French championship which begins on the 32nd.e of end. Classified clubs 3th and 4thas well as the top 8 5th of the 20 hens will go through a playoff round. The 48 play-offs will be classified from 1 to 48 and the oppositions will be established according to the classic format (1-48; 2-47 …). These play-off matches will be played on the field of the best ranked and the winners will qualify for the 32ndth of the final of the championship of France.

The 64 teams qualified for the main stage of the final phase (32e final) will be ranked after 1 to 64. Oppositions will be set according to the following format 1-64; 2-63 … The 16 teams classified in the round of 16 of the French championship ascend to Fédérale 2 for the 2023-2024 season, while the last two of the 20 groups, ie 40 clubs, will descend to Regional 1 (formerly Honor). Finally, 20 clubs from Regional 1 will move up to Federal 3 at the end of next season.
