Europa 2022 starts this Thursday… the whole programme!

Cycling will occupy an important part of the programme European Championship in Munich 2022, in Germany. Four disciplines are on the program from August 11 to 21. A total of 770 athletes from 41 countries will compete for the 30 continental titles at stake in track cycling, BMX Freestyle, road cycling and MTB. road cycling (August 14, 17 and 21)

The European road cycling championship they have been organized for the elite category since 2016. Italy have won the last four men’s titles while the Netherlands have dominated the women’s event with five successes in six editions. The peloton will cover 209.5 km for the men’s road race. It will start from Murnau am Staffelsee, pass through the mountain roads at the foot of the Bavarian Alps and complete five laps of a circuit laid out in the center of Munich.

This is the 12th edition of European track cycling championship. Olympic medalists are expected in this important meeting organized two months before the World Championships, which will be held in France at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome (October 12 to 16). Women and men will compete in eleven medal events: individual sprint, team sprint, team pursuit, Keirin, Omnium, Madison, time trial, individual pursuit, points race, scratch race and elimination race. Some of the best mountain bikers on the planet will pedal at full speed in the legendary Olympic Park in Munich to try to win the European title. They will complete a 4.27km long loop dotted with rock passages, walls and bridges.

The men’s event has been organized since 1989 and became annual two years later. A European women’s mountain bike title has been awarded since 1992.
